Birchwood Ballet Academy, where dancers grow in confidence, agility, dedication and the art of ballet. Our dedicated team of instructors provide unparalleled education, both technically and artistically, to all dancers ages 6 & up of all ability levels.
Birchwood Ballet Academy classes are leveled predominantly by each dancer’s individual experience and technical understanding to maximize instruction and growth. If you are new to the BBA, please contact us for level placement assistance.
The 2023-2024 Season runs from September 7th, 2023 to June 4th, 2024 A non-refundable fee of $30 per dancer is required for registration. BALLET
Pre-Ballet
Pre-Ballet classes introduce your dancer to the beautiful world of ballet, teaching them the foundation that they will build their dance world upon. Pre-ballet is for dancers with limited to no classical ballet background and is the perfect place to begin their ballet journey. These classes offer the necessary foundation of ballet terminology and introduce the basic principles of ballet technique. Pre-Ballet levels are separated primarily by age.
LEVELED BALLET CLASSES
AGES 10 & UP
Our Ballet classes are the next step for dancers after Pre-Ballet or with multiple years of ballet training under their belt. These classes are leveled predominantly by each dancer’s individual experience and technical understanding to maximize instruction and growth. Any ages listed are simply a guide.
Junior Ballet I
AGES 9+
This is the next step in your ballerina’s education. Junior Ballet I dancers have completed Pre-Ballet, have had at least one year of ballet experience, or have been approved by audition by a BBA instructor. Age 9 and up.
Junior Ballet II
AGES 10+
Junior Ballet II is for our dancers age 10 and up. These dancers have completed Junior Ballet I, have at least 2 years of classical ballet experience or have been approved by audition by a BBA instructor.
Senior Ballet I
AGES 12+
Ballet I is for our dancers age 12 and up. These dancers have completed Junior Ballet II, have at least 2 years of classical ballet experience or have been approved by audition by a BBA instructor.
Senior Ballet II
AGES 12+
Ballet II is for our dancers age 12 and up. These dancers have completed Junior Ballet II, Senior Ballet I, have at least 4 years of classical ballet experience or have been approved by audition by a BBA instructor.
Adult Ballet
AGES 18+
Adult ballet is for anyone that would like to acquaint or reacquaint themselves with ballet. Typically it involves an hour long barre class that is geared for introduction to ballet and using ballet to promote healthy exercise. Adult Ballet is a fun and unique way to take time for yourself and is an inclusive environment that lets you engage with ballet and movement to any degree you are comfortable with.
POINTE
Pre-Pointe
Pre Pointe is an elective class that introduces the basics of pointe technique. Dancers start in soft shoes and move into pointe shoes with instructor permission/recommendation. Pre-Pointe dancers are required to take a minimum of one standard ballet class with BBA.
Pointe
AGES 12+
Pointe is a more advanced elective to ballet that requires strong technique and ballet understanding, advanced ankle strength and hard pointe shoes. For the success and safety of each dancer, prior permission from the Director of Birchwood Ballet is required.. Dancers are also required to take a minimum of two standard ballet classes with BBA to ensure the continued growth and strength needed for pointe shoes.
