If your dancer is looking for more performance opportunities outside of the year end recital but isn’t quite ready for and/or doesn’t want to commit to a competition team, performance team is the perfect fit.

Our Performance Team members, ages 5-14, are chosen through a 3-day audition process. Dancers take at least 2 classes each week, including one performance team routine jazz class and one base class; Either a recreational class or a Birchwood Ballet technique class. Also available are optional Performance Team tap, hip hop, acro and jazz technique classes. Our teams perform 4-6 times each year and compete at one recreational competition in April.

Competition dancers compete with 2-4 mandatory routines depending on age. Many optional routines are available.

* Ages 5-10 – Tap, jazz and/or ballet/lyrical

* Ages 9-12 – Tap, jazz, lyrical & APT (Advanced Performance Team)

* Ages 13 & Up (8th Grade and up) – All routines optional – Dancers can compete with 2-4 routines.

Compete at 4 competitions in Minnesota – March-May

Compete at nationals every other June

Team Classes meet once a week over 1-2 evenings with 6-10 weekend rehearsals spread out throughout the school year. In addition, every competition dancer is required to take their team’s weekly jazz technique class and one weekly 90 min.ballet class. If a dancer is in any extra dances outside of their team routines, additional requirements are added.

VDP continues to keep all Covid cleaning protocols in place, including daily sanitizing of the ballet barres, disinfecting floors, bathrooms and hard surfaces. We will continue to follow CDC and Minnesota Department of Health regulations.

We also continue to ask dancers to bring a yoga mat to class with them (Pearls & Opals – we suggest cutting your mat in half so it is easier for your little one to handle). Using the mat helps keeps our dancers germ free when putting their faces down on the floor to stretch.

With cold comes snow and that often means travel problems. As a general rule, when the Edina School system cancels classes due to the cold or snow, Victoria Dance Productions will also cancel classes. If the weather is questionable, check your Google Classroom and the website before you set out to make sure classes are in session.
