Requirements

Victoria Dance Productions offers two Performance Team paths – Our Jazz Performance Team with an optional Tap Routine or our Hip Hop Performance Team.  All  Performance Team members, ages 5-17, are chosen through a 3-day audition process each July.  

JAZZ PERFORMANCE TEAM

During the school year, our Performance Team dancers take at least 2 classes each week, including one performance team routine jazz class and one base class; Either a recreational class or a Birchwood Ballet technique class. Also available are optional Performance Team tap, hip hop, acro and jazz technique classes.

HIP HOP PERFORMANCE TEAM

During the school year, our Hip Hop Performance Team dancers take at least 2 classes each week, including one performance team routine hip hop class and one base class; A recreational hip hop class. Also available are optional tap, jazz, ballet, acro and jazz technique classes.

* Note – Jazz Performance Team dancers are not required to take the additional hip hop base class, although it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!

 
AUDITIONS

The 2026-27 Performance Team Audition Workshop will take place on July 27-31.  Exact audition times will be during or after their last class on Wednesday or Thursday.

Performance Opportunities

Each team performs 4-6 times each year, including the opportunities outlined below.

• Edina Dance Team Invitational (January)
• Minnesota Timberwolves and/or Lynx Halftime Show (December-June)
• Various Senior Centers & Community Performances (December-March)
• One Recreational Dance Competition (April)
• Alex’s Lemonade Stand (June)
• Our Annual Recital (June)

 Time Commitment

• One 60-Minute Team Jazz  or Hip Hop Class
• One Base Class:
  • Jazz Performance Team – Either a VDP recreational class or a Birchwood Ballet Technique Class
  • Hip Hop Performance Team – VDP recreational hip hop class
• Optional: Performance Team Tap, acro, jazz technique classes.

Costs

• Tuition: Rates vary by your choice of base and optional classes selected. 10% multiple class discount applies.
• Age-appropriate Performance Team costumes will be purchased or created.  Costume  Fee – $75-85
• Additional costume fees vary by base class and optional classes selected.
• Shoes/Tights/Make-up/Jewelry
• Competition Fee- approximately $65
