Katelynn Malmstedt, originally from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, grew up dancing competitively at Lake Area Dance Center. She trained in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, modern, hip hop, contemporary and lyrical. In 2023, Katelynn graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Dance and B.A. in Elementary Education. During her time at the University of Iowa, she was part of the UI Dance Company and completed 20+ performances during her time in the dance program. She had many opportunities to perform professionally with companies like Des Moines Ballet, and Urban Bush Women, and worked with many choreographers based in both Minnesota and Iowa.  Katelynn has also performed in dance festivals including ACDA (2023) and The Harvest Festival (2021). 

Katelynn is now working towards continuing her own dance career both performing and teaching. Katelynn has  worked with dancers in acrobatics and hip hop, and helped with our most recent Grand (Sound of Music 2024). Katelynn is so excited to share her passion for dance here at VDP and can not wait for dance opportunities to come!
